Saffron & Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail
This has been our favourite recipe to experiment with and we can honestly say it works wonderfully with champagne, prosecco, cava, sparkling wine and with a white wine spritzer!
Ingredients
5 saffron threads, finely ground
750ml champagne
2 tbs pomegranate molasses
Some pomegranate arils to garnish
1. Grind the saffron up finely and add the saffron and the pomegranate molasses to 25ml of chilled champagne. Stir well.
2. Leave the flavours to mature and then add it to the rest of the champagne and serve chilled, garnished with pomegranate arils.
We have also tried this with fresh pomegranate juice which was wonderfully refreshing.
Saffron & Elderflower Fizz
A refereshingly earthy fizz with a fragrantly floral undertone. This is a great summer drink that doesn't have to be too sweet.
Ingredients
8 saffron threads, finely ground
750ml sparkling elderflower
Fresh mint sprigs and cucumber slices to garnish
1. Grind the saffron up finely and add stir well with the sparkling elderflower.
2. Chill well and garnish with mint and cucumber.
Saffron & Rosewater Faux Latte
This golden drink is perfect for autumn days. This recipe makes enough for 2 cups to share and we often prepare the night before.
Ingredients
8 saffron threads, finely ground
2 tsp rosewater
475 ml milk/milk substitute
1. Grind the saffron finely. Warm 1tbs of water and add the saffron to steep - the longer it steeps, the stronger the taste will be.
2. Warm the milk gently in a saucepan and add the saffron water. Whisk the mixture, bring it to the desired temperature and fluff the saffron milk if you prefer.
